Twin Oaks Residence now finished!

Time passed quickly and the Twin Oaks Residence is now finished.

The building has an envelope made with the combination of Structural Insulated Panels, SIPs, and Insulated Concrete Forms, ICF. These two materials make the building envelope very energy efficient. The exterior walls were stuccoed over and the inside of the walls was plastered.

The floors are stained concrete throughout the house. Concrete floors are easy to maintain and offer a healthy anti-allergy surfaces.

The entire house is supplied with a rainwater harvesting system. The water is collected into a 30,000 gallon storage tank. The tank is partially underground which keeps the water cooler during the hot Central Texas summer months.

Twin Oaks Project reaches ICF walls stage

At Twin Oaks project site December 7 is an exciting day. The ICF walls have been raised, rebar set and everything checked twice in preparation for the day’s concrete pour.

This is obviously a major mile stone in the site when building an ICF house. The site will be buzzing with activity all day.

New site for ICF and SIPs and green building sustainable houses by Z Works Design Build

We are now updating our website to reflect all that we do for our clients. The website will include a project gallery for browsing and some detailed illustrations about how we build the houses using insulated concrete forms and structural insulated panels. The project gallery includes new construction with some remodeled homes and a commercial building too. We are also adding a section for plans that have not been built yet and can be adapted to your property/lot. This includes a zero energy home that was designed for a competition in Austin in 2004 and placed second.

So look forward to this new Z Works Design Build website in the coming few days. We hope it will make your visit to the site more enjoyable!
